සුභ නව වසරක් වේවා සැමටම.... අද රැයෙන් 2011 ඉවර වෙලා 2012 ලබනව... ඉතින් ලබන්නා වු මෙ නව වසර පරිගනක මිල අඩුවන, ඉන්ටර්නෙට් වේග වැඩිවෙන, විදුලි බිල අඩුවන සාමයෙන් සතුටින් පිරි නව වසරක්ම වේවා.... :D

1. cp fileA fileB මෙහිදි fileA යන ගොනුව fileB ලෙස වෙනත් නමකින් එම fileA පවතින තැනේම සේව් කිරීම සිදුවෙනවා. ඔබට අවැසි නම් වෙන තැනක සේව් කරන්න, fileB ට කලින් පාත් එක ලබා දිය යුතුයි... උදා - cp fileA /media/”disk_drive_name/fileB
2. cp -r dirA dirB මෙහිදී තනිකරම ෆොල්ඩරය කොපි වීම සිදුවේ...
3. mv fileA fileB ගොනු හුවමාරු කිරීම... ( මූව් කිරීම )
4. ls ෆෝල්ඩරයක ඇති සියලුම ෆයිල් සහ ෆෝල්ඩර පෙන්වයි..
5. ls -al සියලුම සැගවුන ෆයිල් ෆෝල්ඩර පෙන්වයි.
6. pwd මෙහි තේරුම Print Working Directory යන්නයි. මෙයින් දැනට ඉන්නා ඩිරෙකට්‍රි එක පෙන්වයි.
7. mkdir folder_name_you_want නව ෆෝල්ඩර සැදීම'
8. rm filename ෆයිල් මැකීම
9. rm -r directory_name ෆෝල්ඩර මැකීම
10. more filename මෙහිදි අදාල ෆයිල් එකේ අන්තර්ගතය පෙන්වයි... ( ටෙක්ස්ට් ෆයිල් ආදිය )

සන්හිඳ සමඟ අයිෆෝන් එකේ සින්හල ටයිප් කරමු!

දැන් ටික වෙලාවකට කලින් තරිඳු සහෝදරයාගෙ ටුවිටරෙන් තමා මේක දැක්කෙ.. මේ සොෆ්ට්වෙයා එකෙන් පුලුවනි අයිෆෝන් වල සින්හල ටයිප් කරන්න. මේක හදල තියෙන්නෙ තරිඳු මදුෂන්ක කියල අයියා කෙනෙක්. ෆොනෙටික් ක්‍රමයට තමා ටයිප් කරන්න තියෙන්නෙ. ට්‍රයි එකක් දීල බලන්න... :) මම නම් මෙක ටෙස්ට් කරල බැලුවෙ අයිපොඩ් ටච් එකක... වැ‌ඩ!! ලිනුක්ස් හි ටර්මිනලයේ භාවිත වන මූලික විධාන ( ගොනු හැකිලීම හා දිග හැරීම් )

ලින්ක්ස් සන්ස්කරන වල ඇති මේ ටර්මිනලය හෙවත් Command Line Interface එකේ ගොඩක් අය වැඩ කරන්න හරි බයයි. මොකද අයිකන් එහෙමනෑනේ.. ඔක්කොම තියෙන්නේ ටයිප් කරන්න නිසා. එහෙම බය වෙන්න දෙයක් නෑ. හරිම සාමාන්යයි. සාමාන්යයෙන් ටර්මිනලය ඕපන් කර ගමන් ඉන්නේ Home ෆෝල්ඩරය ඇතුලේ. අපිට ඒකෙන් වෙන තැනකට යන්න ඕනි වෙන කොට cd ලෙස ටයිප් කර අදාල ෆෝල්ඩරය නම ටයිප් කලාම හරි. මෙහි cd හි තේරුම change directory යන්නයි.

උදා - අපි හිතමු Home ෆෝල්ඩරේ අතුලේ තියෙන Movies කියලා ෆෝල්ඩරයකට යන්න ඕනි කියල. එතකොට ටයිප් කල යුත්තේ..

cd Movies  මෙලෙස ට්යිප් කර Enter බොත්තම එබීම් පමණ්යි.

හොදයි, අද බලමු ටර්මිනලය ඇතුලේ ගොනු හැකිලීම හා දිග හැරීම් කරනෙනේ කොහොමද කියලා.  මෙහි දැක්වෙන tar,bz2 හා gz යනු එලෙස ගොනු හැකිලීමට යොදගන්නා ෆයිල් එක්ස්ටෙන්ශ්න් වේ.

1)“bzip filename” – .zip වලින් ගොනු හැකිලීම කරයි
2)“tar cf targer.tar filename1 filename2 filename3” –  පසුව දක්වා ඇති filename1,2,3 යන ඒවා target.tar ලෙස හකුලයි. ( ඔනෑම ෆයිල් ගනනක් භාවිතා කල හැක. )
3)“tar xf filename.tar” – tar ගොනුව දිගහරී.
4)“tar czf target.tar.gz filename” – Gzp.tar සැකසුම සහිත හැකිලීම සිදුකරයි.
5)“tar xzf file.tar.gz” –tar.gz ගොනුව දිග හරී
6)“tar cjf target.tar.bz2 filename” – Bz2 ලෙස සිප් වූ ගගොනුවක් සාදයි.
7)“tar xjf file.tar.bz2” – Bz2 ගොනුව දිග හරී
8)“gzip filename” – .Gz සිප් ගොනුවක් තන්යී.
9)“gzip –d filename.gz” – .Gz සිප් ගොනුව දිගහරී.

ලිනක්ස් හිදී Nvidia Optimus තාක්ශණය Bumblebee මගින් ක්‍රියා කරවමු!

දැන් වසරක පමණ සිට Nvidia නිකුත් කරන ලැප්ටොප් VGA වල Optimus නම් තාක්ශණයක් අන්තර්ගතව තිබෙනව. මෙය වින්ඩෝස් සදහා සහය දක්වන මුත්, ලිනක්ස් සදහා සහය නොදක්වයි. මේ සදහ නිර්මාණ්ය වූ මෘදුකාන්ගයක් තමා Bumblebee...

මොකක්ද මේ Nvidia Optimus කියන්නේ?

සාමාන්යයෙන් VGA වලට් ලොකු විදුලියක් වැය වෙනවා. ඉතින් බැටරි වලින් වැඩ කරන ලැප්ටොප් වලට එක ලොකු පාඩුවක්. එනිසා අවශ්‍ය වෙලාවට පමණක් external VGA එක ඔන් වෙන්නත් අනිත් වෙලාවට intenal VGA එක ඕන් කිරීමත් තමා මේකෙන් වෙන්නේ.

උදා ; අපි හිතමු අපි ගේම් එකක් සෙල්ලම් කරනව් කියල? එතකොට් ඕන් වෙන්නේ Nvidia VGA එක.. අපි ම්යික්රොසොෆ්ට් වර්ඩ් වලින් මොන හරි ටයිප් කරනව කියල හිතමු? එතකොට වෙන්නේ Nvidia VGA එක ඕෆ් වෙලා internal VGA එක ඕන් වෙන එක.

ඉතින් අපිට මොකෝ????

ඉතින් මොකෝ තමයි... මේ තාක්ශණ්ය නැතිනම්...

1. ඔයාගේ ලැප්ටොප් බැට්රිය් ඉක්මණින් බහිනව.
2. වැඩි වැඩියෙන් වර්ජ් කරන කොට් බැටරියෙ ආයු කාලය අඩු වෙනව
3. නිකන් අපරාදෙ විදුලිය වැයවෙනව්
4. ලැප්ටොප් එක රත් වෙනච්
5. දීර්ග කාලීනව් රත් වීමෙන් ලැප්ටොප් එකේ ආයු කාලය අඩු විය හැකියි

මේ නිසා ඔබත් ලිනක්ස් බාවිතා කරන්නෙක් නම්, මේ Bumblebee දමාගන්න... අන්ත්ර්ජාල පහසුකම් තිබිය යුතුයි :)

පළමුව nvidia drivers බාගත් යුතුය. එයට Administration හි Additional Drivers ට ගොස් Activate බොත්තම ඔබන්න. එවිට අන්තර්ජාලයෙන් එය බාගත වී ඉන්ස්ටෝල් වනු ඇත.

    ඉන් පසු....

1. ඔබේ ටර්මිනලය ගන්න.
2. Root user ලබා ගන්න ( Type sudo bash )
3. sudo add-apt-repository ppa:bumblebee/stable ලෙස ටයිප් කර එන්ට කරන්න.
4. sudo apt-get update
5. sudo apt-get install bumblebee

ඉහත ඒවා පිලිවෙලින් අතුලත් කරමින් යන්න. අසන ප්‍රශ්න වලට අදාල ඔබේ ලැප්ටොප් එකේ සැකසුම් ලබා දෙන්න. එය සෑම් විටම YES / NO ආකාරයේ ප්‍රශ්න බැවින් බිය විය යුතු නැහැ. මෙය තවම සාර්තකව සෑම nvidia vga සහිත ලැප්ටොප් සියල්ලගේම ක්‍රියා නොකරයි. කිසිදු ගැටලුවක් නොමැතිව ස්ථාපනය වූයේ නම් ඔබේ ලැප්ටොපයේ සාර්ථකව ක්‍රියා කරන බව ඔබට සහතික විය හැක. සාර්ථකව ස්ථාපනය වූයේ නම් ලැප්ටොපය රත් වීමේ අඩුවක් හා බැටරි කාලය වැඩිවීමක් දැකිය හැක. ගැටලු යොමු කරන්න. ඔබට ජය.. :)

ලිනක්ස් උබුන්ටු මතදී Objective C වලින් වැඩ කිරීම!

ඉන්ග්‍රීසි බ්ලොග් එක් නිතරම වගේ ලිව්වත් ගොඩක් හේතු නිසා කාලෙකින් සින්හල බ්ලොග් පෝස්ට් එකක් ලිව්වෙ නැහැ. අතැරල දාන්න හිතුව්ත් කියවන කිහිප දෙනා වෙනුවෙන් අයෙත් මේක ලියන්න ඕනි කියල තමයි අද අයෙ මේ පටන් ගත්තේ. එහෙනම් ආයුබෝ වේවා! :)

මොකක්ද මේ Objective C කියන්නේ?

මේක 1983දී බිහිවූ එක්තරා ක්‍රමලේකන භාශාවක්. මෙය අද වඩාත්ම යොදා ගන්නේ ඇපල් මැක් මෙහෙයුම් පද්ධතිය සහ iOS සදහායි. ඔබටත් අවශ්‍ය නම් iPhone apps හෝ mac apps හදන්න, එහෙම නැත්නම් ඊට වඩා එහාට ගිය දෙයක් උනත් මේ ම්ගින් සිදු කරන්න.

මට නම් මේක ඉගෙන ගන්න පිස්සුව් හැදුනෙ අයිපොඩ් ටච් එකක් ගත්ත දවසෙ ඉදල. නමුත් මෙම අයිෆෝන් ඇප්ස් හදන්න අප්ඩේටඩ් හොද මැක් එකක් තියෙන්න ඕනි. අපිට් ඉතින් මැක් ලැබෙන කොට බැරියෑ. ඒපාර හැකින්ටොශ් එකක් හදාගන්න හිතුව්. මට ලොකු ඩේටා ප්ලෑන් නෑ නෙව්.

Apple Mac OS X Snow Leopard 10.6.7 – 8.3GB

xCode and iPhone SDK – 5.6GB

එකතුව් = 14GB

ඕක බානව කියන්නේ ගෙදරින් මැරුම් කන වැඩක් තමා :(

ඒනිසා තමා අන්තර්ජාලයේ සැරිසරන අව්ස්ථාව්ක මේක මගේ ඇස ගැටුනෙ. මේකෙ නම GnuStep. මේක දාගත්තම් කිසි අවුලක් නැතුව් Objective C ඉගෙන ගන්න පුලුවනි. නමුත් පරහ තමා මැක් එකක් නැතුව් අයිෆෝන් ඇප් හදන්න බැරිකම. නමුත් මූලික පියවර ලෙස අදාල ක්‍රමලේකන භාශාව ඉගෙන ගන්න පුලුවනි. කොහොමත් ඉතින් ඇප්ස් හදන්න ඉස්සෙල්ල ක්‍රමලේකන භාශාව ඉගෙන ගෙන ඉන්න එපෑයෑ :)

මේක වින්ඩෝස් වලටත් තියෙනව්. උත්සහ කරල බලන්න. මම නම් බැලුවෙ නෑ මම පාවිච්චි කරන්නේ උබුන්ටු නිසා. එහෙනම් බලමු ඉන්ස්ටෝල් කරන හැටි.. වැඩි දෙයක් නෑ. බාන්න තියෙන්නෙත් 200MB වගේ තමා :)

1. ටර්මිනලය ගන්න.. ( කෙටි මග- Ctrl+Alt+T )
2. sudo bash ටයිප් කර මුරකේත යොදා Root පහසුකම් ලබාගන්න..
3. sudo apt-get install gnustep ( 130MB )
4. sudo apt-get install gnustep-devel ( 50MB )
5. ටර්මිනලයෙන් ඉවත් වෙන්න.

දැන් වැඩ කරනවද බලන්න සරල Hello World ඇප් එක රන් කරල බලමු.

1. ඔබ කැම්ති ටෙක්ස්ට් එඩිටර් එකක් ගන්න. ( උදා - Gedit )
2. මේ ටික ටයිප් කර hello.m ලෙස Home හි සේව් කරගන්න. ( .m යනු file extension එකයි )

5. gcc `gnustep-config --objc-flags` -lgnustep-base hello.m -o hello ( මෙහිදී ඔබ ලියන ලද කේතය කම්පයිල් වීම සිදුවේ )

The problems with nvidia graphic cards made with nvidia optimus technology in Linux distributions!

     මෙය මා විසින් ම්ගෙ English blog එක වෙනුවෙන් ලියන ලඩි. මෙහි සින්හල පරිවර්ටනයක් ඉඩිරියෙඩි පල වෙ...  ම්ගෙ සයුර සින්හල නිවරඩිව ක‍්ර‍ය නොකිරිම නිස බව සලකන්න..           


  I recently bought a Acer 4750G laptop for my studies and for entertaintment of course! This laptop came with a nvidia GT540M GPU with nvidia optimus technology. This laptop has a second generation core i5 2410M processor. So it comes with a Intel HD3000 GPU too. Nvidia GPU is made for hardcore gaming and to manage HD content. While intel gpu is too capable of that nvidia does it better. You get what I mean right?

           

What is nvidia optimus technology?

Laptops are made for portability.n So always product companies try to get best results with the battery life. Intel HD gpu consumes a little power and nvidia gpu consumes a lot of power. So always working with the nvidia gpu makes battery life to be weaker. So what this optimus technology does is switching two gpus when they want.

Ex:-

Working on documents, excel sheets – changes gpu to intel HD3000

Gaming – changes gpu to nvidia

HD video – changes gpu to nvidia

Operating system – changes gpu to intel HD3000

Conflicts with Linux systems

This is a great technology indeed. But the issue is this technology is not very well working with Linux distributions. Nvidia officials have said they have no idea to develop this software to linux distributions too. So what will happen will be both gpus will work when you boot with linux. Result will be a small battery life. Some laptops wont boot even. In my laptop Acer 4750G I tried to install linux ubuntu 11.04 natty narwhal but it doesn’t  gave me the chance to boot even to the install page. It gave me only a black screen. I waited about 30 minutes but nothing happened. This has happened to lot of people who bought laptops with nvidia optimus technology. By the way this technology works with windows 7 like a charm. I managed to code C++ in CodeBlocks software about 5 hours and 30 minutes with lowered brightness.

I checked some linux distributions with this laptop and results are –

Ubuntu 11.04 natty narwhal – Didn’t boot even. But managed to work with installed via WUBI and survived C++ coding in standard g++ compiler via terminal for about 3 hours..

Ubuntu 10.04 lucid lynx – Installed successfully. Initially gave me only a resolution of 1024 x 768 pixels. Then installed nvidia official linux driver and got the desired 1366 x 768 pixel resolution. ( its not a driver for optimus, but a driver to work that gpu with linux systems)

Linux arch ( kernel version – 3.0.3 ) – installed successfully.. when I installed gnome 3 gui in it all went to a black screen.  I think it can be corrected. As I’m not a genius in linux command line interface and linux arch I couldn’t get it worked yet. Big reason to worry. But I’ll do it in next week and update this post how to :)

I couldn’t check this with fedora or any other version as I couldn’t find any of them. If one of you have checked them with a nvidia optimus enabled computer please let us know. Do a comment explaining it. Thanks :)

Solutions for these problems!

    

Currently there are some solutions. One of them is Bumblebee for linux. And other way is switching off nvidia card manually, in the second way you wont get the optimus technology worked. But in bumblebee thing you will get it worked. As bumblebee is a beta testing software you can’t be assured of 100% stability. But it worth give a try. I didn’t installed bumblebee as I don’t need nvidia in linux as I don’t use linux for gaming. So simply switched it off.

Conclusion

    This is indeed a great technology but sadly not for dual gpu systems. There are some laptops which we can choose what gpu to be enabled. In such laptops we have no issues. So if you are willing to use linux as a primary operating system and you depend on gui, afraid to deal with command line interface actions, I suggest you to move away from dual gpu systems. Or you can wait for till better solution comes or find a laptop with bios switch to enable one single gpu. That’s it… See ya later :D

Apple iPhone 5 - iS only just a dream? :o

Apple iPhone is a dream mobile for most if us. I meant not about buying it and all others but the creativity, usability and the killer performance. When the first iPhone is released with no UMTS support, everybody thought ''aha.. Nobody will buy this piece of shit''.. Because by the time of 2007 there were mobiles with UMTS and HSDPA support with also frikkin 5MP cameras. Anyway I'm not going to explore the history here... :D

When the iPhone 4 released on last year at WWDC (Apple's world wide developers conference ) we all said ''WoW... It's marvellous''... And we were correct.. It was actually damn sexy and a killer performance...

So it's going to be a one year by near future. We all hoped for a new iPhone 5G.. Because the new iPad2 and MacBookPro is already in the market rock and roll.. We all did hoping.. Am I wrong? Not at all...

Each year before the WWDC is held, some announcements are made on what to come. But this time in there announcements there are no any thing related hardware side (not a single fact about iPhone or iPods) .. Only about iOS and new MacOSs(Mas OS X Lion)..

So thing is it's going to be a dream for this time. Anyway better luck next time. :D Sometimes this is a good chance.. Because iPhone 4 and new generation iPods are not going to be old people in this year. I myself own a 32GB iPod touch 4G and I'm happy I won't feel any old in that... :D :D :D xoxoxoxoxoxox

Transforming Linux Ubuntu 10.04 Lucid to Mac OSX snow Leopard

බොහෝ දිනකට පසු අද මේ සැරසෙන්නේ ලිනුක්ස් උබුන්ටු පද්ධතියකට ඇපල් මැක් ස්ථාපනය කරන අයුරු කියන්නයි. මෙයින් කෙරෙනුයේ ලිනුක්ස් කර්නලය මත ඇති ගීනෝම් අතුරු මුහුනත මත මැක් අතුරු මුහුනත ඟාගිකව අතිපිහිත කිරීම මිස ඇපල් මැක් මෙහෙයුම් පද්ධතිය ස්ථාපනය කිරීම නොවේ. මෙහිදී ගිනෝම් අතුරු මුහුනතේ බොහෝදේ ඉවත් වී ඇපල් මැක් අතුරු මුහුනතේ අඩංගු දෑ පැමිණේ. මෙය තීම් එකකින් වෙනස් වනුයේ මෙහිදී අලුතිනෙ සිස්ටම් ෆයිල්ස් පවා පිටපත් වන බැවිනි.

ඉන්පසු එය බාගත කරගත් පසු පහත ඒවා ඇතුලු කරන්න.

tar xzvf /tmp/Macbuntu-10.04.tar.gz -C /tmp

cd /tmp/Macbuntu-10.04/

./install.sh

තවද මෙම ස්ථාපනය අතරතුරදී තවත් ගොනු බාගත කිරීමට අවස් ඉල්ලයි. එවිට එවාද බාගැනීමට ඉඩහරින්න.
මෙම ස්ථාපනයේදී අසන ප්‍රශ්ණ වලට ඔබ කැමති අයුරින් අදාල සෙටින්ස් දී ස්ථාපනය කර පරිගණකය රීබූට් කරන්න.
